• It’s Not Hard Work. It’s Just the Next Right Thing.

    There’s a thing people say when they find out you’ve lost weight. They mean it kindly, and I receive it that way. But it still gives me pause every time.
    “You must have worked so hard.”
    I’ve lost nearly 45 pounds. And here’s what I want to tell you: it wasn’t hard work. It was the faithful, consistent building of one habit on top of another — and the decision to stop telling myself a story about how hard it was going to be before I even began.
    Because that’s the thing about the beliefs we carry into change. They don’t wait for us to fail. They show up at the starting line.
